The workshop Hybrid Practices and the Inquiry of Time and Mechanisms of Memory came out of the collaboration between the visual artist Lutz Baumann (Germany) and the choreographer Alma Quintana (Mexico) and their project Aparición.
See the detailed description of the program here.
The leading discourse in the workshop will be visual and body experience and perception by the inquiry of time and mechanisms of memory. It will strengthen the possibility of expanding the practice while renewing the resources. This does not only mean giving continuity but will also offer experiences as a framework for developing a language that actively generates self-criticism and discussion.
The starting point of the project Aparición was an enquiry of the notion of the concept ‘body’, that is approached as: a system, object, a structure; something able to occupy space, something that makes itself present to anyone who can perceive it. The project has been mainly working with the human body (trying to expand it beyond the visible structure), with a non defined composed body and finally with the body of memory. The changes of perceiving a body have led to structure the relationships of the choreographic device, organizing the dramaturgy of all its elements, such as the body in relation to time, space and to other bodies and objects.
The workshop will be held during 4 days á 8 hours.
Thursday 18 – Sunday 21 June, 2015
Subscriptions are open till 12 June, 2015 with a maximum of 20 people. The costs for all 4 days are 75€ per person.
